Matchbox Manila (2026) is an experiential photobooth and creative portrait brand in the Philippines that transforms quick photo sessions into curated visual memories. I contributed to Brand Development and Campaign Execution by shaping its visual identity around the concept of “matches” and burning moments into lasting imagery.

Sequence

Photobooth experiences in the Philippines are often fast, repetitive, and disposable. Images are produced for immediate sharing but rarely carry long-term meaning. The challenge was to shift this behavior and reposition the experience as something more intentional, where memories are not just captured but given weight and permanence.

Mutate

Developed a brand system centered on the metaphor of matches, where a single strike becomes a moment of ignition and a visual cue for memory formation. Combined this with Filipino aesthetic sensibilities such as warm lighting, intimate everyday spaces, and familiar cultural textures to ground the concept in lived experience. Built campaign assets for TikTok and Instagram that focused on flame, glow, and flash photography as visual language, translating the idea of burning into preserving.

The direction treated each photo session as a moment that is brief but deliberately composed, turning it into something that feels embedded rather than disposable.

Express

Established a stronger emotional positioning that differentiated Matchbox Manila from standard photobooths by shifting it toward curated visual storytelling. The brand created a clearer sense of intention in how moments are captured, strengthening engagement and reinforcing the idea that fleeting experiences can be transformed into lasting visual memory.
